I give little pieces of art as gifts, instead of toys. 

Parents always seem a little more excited.

Occasionally my old school district has projects for me, usually for the elementary schools. I've made a bunch of these hand painted signs and have even done some funny murals over the years. I always enjoy these projects, because elementary school was where I really found my love of art and design. It feels like an odd sense of accomplishment, like I've really come full circle.

A little photoshop action

I've been working at a small start-up for 7 months now, and I've been doing a bit more odd projects. A client wanted a very specific icebreaker ship image showing ice breaking away...which doesn't really exist, because the ice doesn't break like how they imagine. So yay, I get to practice my photoshopping skills. Kinda fun, super random.

Pen Pal

New pieces from my "Commentaries" project. They are all quotes from my darling friend Ray. The first set of quotes are up on my shop and were recorded while she was creating new pieces of art. I just started writing down odd things she would say, mostly to herself about how she felt about what she was making. I imagined them as signs up in other artists studios as a reminder that most artist have similar internal experience when trying to create something. Ray has since moved to Thailand and we have been conversing and sending little doodles via snail mail. They are super fun little projects. More to come.

Christmas come early

I put two holiday cards up on my shop. They will also be available at the annual MCAD Art Sale, along with several other various pieces of my art. Happy shopping! 

Some Solid Patterns

 

I made these a while ago, just for fun. Can I do little things like this all day long? The diamond on inspired my new tattoo that I will post a picture of soon.

Floral

Took some photos of the lovely flowers I got today. They somehow seem even more romantic now in black and white. Perhaps I've been single for far to long... Yearning for more romance in my flowers. But, they really do liven up my apartment, that is currently in disarray with moving.

Dreary Spring

Seeing patterns from freelancer friends Jessie, Katie and Emma. Feeling a little jealous of their time for special projects, so I've started one of my own. I intend to add some color, but it doesn't seem fitting with the foot of snow dumped on MN yesterday. Someday spring will come and color will again appear in our lives.

Babies of Knowledge Etsy Shop Coming SOON!

I'm super excited to announce that I will be launching my Etsy shop THIS FRIDAY. It's been a long time coming and a lot of late nights on the weekends. But I'm glad to be getting back to my crafting roots. I'm starting small with only 9 items, but I'll be slowly adding more throughout the year. Hope you're as excited as I am.

How to pack for Foust Cabin

It's that time of year when all the Fousts gather at the cabin.
This is my general guide for what to pack for the weekend, documented perhaps to help others.

toothbrush, tooth paste

clean undies

pillow, sleeping bag

towel

swimsuit, sunscreen

+ plenty of food

You won't need anything else except for the clothes on your back.

*Note: By the 3rd day I suggest banning cameras and mirrors.
